The Original and SIZE AND RUG CARE INFORMATION
The Rug That Fights Back!
A true winner! Developed by Horseware Ireland in 1990 based on the idea that it is possible to make a blanket that is truly waterproof, doesn't move and is light and comfortable for the horse, the classical design of the Rambo Turnout has formed the basis for Turnout rug design world-wide. - Indoor warmth and outdoor freedom
- The first blanket that was fully waterproof AND breathable
- Guaranteed not to move
The Rambo's short surcingles and close fitting neck line mean that it stays in place, no matter what your horse gets up to. You can now leave your horse out with confidence, knowing that his Rambo Turnout won't slip or move. The Rambo design established the industry standard.

PRODUCT INFORMATIOM FROM HORSEWEAR IRELAND Since the first Horseware blanket was made in 1984 the company has led the market in product innovation and design. From the outset, the company sought to develop a range of horse blankets which made life more comfortable for your horse and easier for you through major innovations in material and design. In 1990 Horseware Ireland revolutionized the market by introducing the RAMBO Turnout, the first truly waterproof and breathable horse blanket that really worked, using hydrophilic coating technology called AquaTrans. The RAMBO Turnout also incorporated innovative features such as the use of tough ballistic grade nylon, no back seams, short cross surcingles and a guaranteed nonslip design. By 1996 the RAMBO Turnout had become the world's best selling Turnout and its classic design had become the industry standard. I n 1997, Horseware again broke the mould introducing the RAMBO WUG, a dramatic new patented design which won Best Product Award at the British Equestrian Trade Fair and has gone on to take British and US markets by storm. In 1998 Horseware went one step further launching RAMBO WUG PLUS giving complete coverage from head to tail with a design concept which we believe will set the standards of the future. Give your horse - and yourself - the advantage of Horseware Ireland's superior product line!
SIZE CHART NEED HELP: www.equitux@equitux.com Sizing and Fitting Your Horse's Rug; It is important to take the time to measure your horse before ordering. At EquiTux.com, we send out only factory fresh blankets and rugs. For health reasons, we do not accept returns on blankets that have been opened and placed on a horse. Please measure carefully. | The fit of your rug is extremely important in order to ensure the comfort of your horse and to prevent rubbing and slippage of the rug. As horses of the same height at the wither come in a variety of shapes and sizes, it is useful to take certain additional measurements of your horse. The following three are the most important to take into account when buying your rug: - The length of the rug - the distance from the centre of the chest to the rear of the quarters where you expect the rug to finish.
- The distance from the wither to the top of the tail.
- The width of the girth - a broad horse may need a bigger rug than a thinner one of the same height.
Taking these measurements into account will ensure that you are able to choose the best possible fit of rug for your individual horse and thereby make sure that he is as comfortable as possible. Also take into account that your horse will probably require one size larger for his turnout rug than for his stable rug. Horseware rugs are sized in three inch increments. This measurement refers to the distance from the centre of the chest to the rear of the quarters where you expect the rug to finish. Fitting Your Rug: There are several things that you should look for to ensure that your rug fits your horse well and comfortably: - The withers - It is essential that the rug fits well up the neck and beyond the withers to ensure that excessive pressure is not put either on the point of shoulder or directly on the wither. A well fitting rug should lie about 2-4 inches in front of the withers.
- The shoulders - The outside edge of the rug should lie well in front of the shoulder to allow for the free movement of the shoulders. All Horseware rugs are extremely well fitted around the neck. The RAMBOŽ WUG and RAMBOŽ WUG Plus incorporate a new patented front closure system where the top strap instead of being horizontal is at an angle and lies along the groove between the horse's shoulder and neck. This "V" formation transfers the pressure above the point of shoulder, which lies between the straps. This maximises the freedom of movement of the horse and also prevents rain from entering the front of the rug.
- The rump - The rug should be a snug fit over the rump, which is facilitated through darting of the rug. The end of the rug, where the tail flap is attached, should finish just as the tail starts. The belly - this should not be visible under the rug!
- The fillet string - It is essential that on all Turnout rugs the fillet string is attached and fitted under the horse's tail. This is vital to ensure that it is not possible for the back of the rug to be blown forward in severe wind. Should the fillet string break, we advise that a piece of cord be used as a temporary or permanent replacement.

RUG CARE NEED HELP: www.equitux@equitux.com | | Care of Turnout Blankets | | Your turnout blanket will last longer and be more comfortable for your horse if it is cleaned and maintained properly. Dirty blankets are also less hygienic and may cause skin and coat problems. At most, one thorough annual cleaning after the winter season should be sufficient. Nylon linings, now favored by Horseware Ireland, are more hygienic, last longer, do not deteriorate and therefore require less maintenance than would a cotton lined blanket. You should therefore find that nylon lined blankets need to be washed less frequently. OK then, the winter season is over and your Rambo is now a delightful shade of brown, what do you do? Firstly remove excess dirt from the outside with a stiff brush or hose the blanket down. The blanket can be either washed by hand or, to make life easier, on a delicate machine cycle on a cool wash (max. temperature 30ēC). Use only very mild soap. Horseware only recommends using RAMBO wash - an environmentally friendly, phosphate free product for use on synthetic fabrics. This mild wash will quickly and effectively remove dirt and grime while not reducing the waterproofing of the blanket. It is important to remember that excessive washing, at too high temperatures and using harsh detergents will compromise the waterproof coating. When the blanket has been washed according to the above guidelines, rinse it thoroughly and leave to drip dry. Do not tumble dry. Store the blanket when it is completely dry. Blankets should be stored in a dry and sealed area. The best containers for blanket storage include large tin trunks, strong plastic bags or drums with sealable lids. Another alternative is to hang the blankets from a specially designed blanket rack which will ensure that they remain aired, dry and free from intruders. Occasionally your Rambo or Rhino Turnout may benefit from being re-proofed to keep the waterproof coating in top condition. Any re-proofer for synthetic rugs, such as Nickwax will work effectively on Rambo and Rhino Turnouts. Follow the manufacturers instructions. If you follow these guidelines your Rambo Turnout can give your horse many years of effective protection from the worst of the weather. NEED HELP: www.equitux@equitux.com |
